The defeat in the Champions League with Inter Milan (0:2) was forgotten in the camp of the Victorians for the rest of the week, as they will face Slavia in the league on Sunday. As part of the ninth round of FORTUNA:LIGA, fans at the Doosan Arena will witness the battle for the top of the table, and there is no shortage of motivation in either camp.
On Sunday, Viktoria will welcome a rival from Prague, where it has been fighting for championship titles in recent years. As the current Czech champion, Pilsen was the winner last year. “One of the biggest matches of the season is waiting for us, we all hope and want to win. I always watch Viktorka’s matches with Slavia and Sparta, they are always big matches. But against Slavia, it is a bit more certain ,” reports 24-year-old Slovak international Erik Jirka, who will taste the closely watched clash with the staples for the first time, when he arrived in Pilsen from Real Oviedo last summer.
Defender Václav Jemelka, who recently defended the colors of Olomouc, is in a similar situation. “They’re in great form and scoring a lot of goals so it’s going to be tough and we’ll have to slow it down because they’ve really got going. It’s definitely one of the toughest games we can play in the league,” plus a twenty-seven-year-old defender.
“The atmosphere at home has always been our advantage and we believe it will be the same today. Our fans support us all the time, even when we lost to Inter, they applauded us, so we will definitely get great support again. Slavia are also playing in the cups, this is another in a series of matches for them and I expect Slavia, who will want to be strong on the ball and want to win. But so are we “ assistant coach Pavel Horváth completed the players, who also expected the sold-out stands full of home fans to push them to win the match.
